Blooming in the Margins

Chronicling disability, sexuality, embodied healing, collective care, and how the f*ck we make it through this together — empowered and in love with our unique humanness

Hi, I’m Kelsey.

I’m a dancer, writer, filmmaker, and both co-director and subject of the documentary film, Move Me. Now on PBS Independent Lens.

July 4th, 2023 marked my 11th “injurversary” or “rebirth day”

It was eleven years ago on that day that I broke my neck and became a C6 quadriplegic. For some reason, it sparked a renaissance in me…

This is part of that renaissance. It is an answer to a calling within me for more connection, joy, pleasure, comfort, movement and intimacy in my disabled existence. And this is a way for me to share that embodied journey with you, to create some community, and to hopefully be of service in some way. So here we go!

Who is this page for?

This page is for those who want a more embodied and empowered existence. It is for those looking for ways to be more wholly YOU. It is for people looking for ways to move and engage with your sensuality. In a toxic culture that, for many of us, is constantly saying: you’re not enough, you’re not worthy, or you don’t belong here — this space is a reminder that you are worthy of a beautifully embodied, empowered, and connected existence.

You belong here.

Let’s heal and grow together!

This space is for those:

  • Yearning to feel better in their bodies

  • Wanting to move more

  • Desiring more pleasure and ways to achieve that

  • Working to untangle and unlearn harmful narratives

  • Wanting to become better allies

  • Looking for community and a more empowered path

  • Cultivating radical self-love

  • Fighting for liberation

Why subscribe?

Paid subscribers make it possible for me to create the offerings I share here, and for me to someday be free from the oppressive nature of government assistance as a person with a disability.

With your support, I have more time to design dance classes, write essays and offerings, film content, and more for your healing journey.

I love that as a community, we can elevate each other towards more freedom—be it financial, emotional, sexual, whatever!

Monthly Zoom Class: Movement as Medicine (and playlist!)

In this class: we talk, we journal, we move, and we talk some more. And we use all of this as therapy.

We are all born dancers.

Movement is a way for us to access ourselves and the healing potential within us all. I am here to give you prompts and tools to interact with the dancer in you. This class isn’t about dancing pretty, it’s about moving in ways that feel good and conjure deeper engagement with your mind, body and spirit.

What do I want for myself this month? This class is your time to ponder that question and embody your healing journey.

Bi-weekly (2x/month) community chat

A space to connect with other Liminal Humans! This is a time for you to ask questions, share, and just be together. I love the potential for connecting and learning from each other here.
