Ritual Somatic Movement Class Link
Moving with the New Moon in Gemini - Tuesday, May 27th at 7:30 pm CST
A new moon is a great time to do some somatic integration. And here’s why…
New moons are a time for beginnings.
While teaching a somatic class for a building project earlier today, I had a friend/participant mention that the new moon is a time to be OK with emptiness. Newness. A blank slate. An unknowing…
A New Moon gives us an opportunity to ask ourselves:
what are we going to fill this new space with?
How are we honoring what we’ve done since the last full moon?
What seeds of intention do we want to plant?
What can support us on our journey with these intentions?
Whenever we are doing this type of reflection and intention setting, it’s helpful to move our bodies to really integrate and initiate the journey.
Movement brings the brainstorming, journaling, and the mental downloads into a tangible space.
It’s like starting on the path — not just talking the talk, but walking the walk, baby. Feeling the presence of our intentions moving through us into a physical space.
We are able to feel in our bodies what it’s like to step into our intentions, our goals, our dreams.
It’s empowering and grounding.
It gives us momentum.
It starts the healing and growth process in a visceral way.
And as marginalized people, somatic movement is a way to show ourselves some tenderness, love and support. It is a way to say, ‘I see you. You matter.’
It is a way to lovingly combat micro aggressions. To greet our bodies with the compassion and attention that we deserve. A way to honor what we have endured.
Somatics are a way to slow down and listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us and how they can inform the next step we take or wheel we roll.
